Mark Wahlberg may be a successful actor in Hollywood, but there’s one thing he wishes he was–a high school graduate.

The 41-year-old announced his academic plans on Monday’s Late Show with David Letterman. Wahlberg, who dropped out of high school in the ninth grade, revealed that he will take online courses offered though a Massachusetts-based program to obtain his diploma.

Upon completion of this program, the actor explained that he will be awarded a diploma and not a GED.

“It’s an actual diploma,” he said. “I’ve got to take up all the courses that I missed.”

Wahlberg will attend to his coursework in between breaks from filming. He hopes to complete the program within six to eight months.

Despite being nervous, Wahlberg is committed to finishing his high school education.

“It’s one of those things where I said, ‘You know what?’” he said. “‘I’m going to make it happen.’”
